What to know

- Covid test must be done 48 hours prior to surgery. No patient will be admitted without a NEGATIVE Covid result
- No preparation needed prior to surgery, like shaving etc.
- Nothing to eat or drink 6 hours before your procedure
- If you take blood thinners for irregular heartbeat or as part of high blood pressure treatment, please stop it 7 days before the surgery
- If you take blood thinners (Warfarin) for previous blood clots or heart valve replacement, please ask your doctor for a prescription and instructions before surgery
- Confirm theatre booking and admission time one day before the surgery
- When booking is made, all information will be sent to the hospital. They will arrange with your medical aid for pre-authorisation. Remember, at the end of the day, it remains your responsibility to ensure that you have authorisation.
