Anterior Vaginal Repair (Bladder Repair)
About 1 in 10 women who have had children require surgery for vaginal prolapse.
BCG Instillations
Instillation of an immunotherapy drug (BCG) into the bladder for aggressive or frequently recurring non-muscle invasive cancer of the bladder.
Bladder Diary Sample
This simple chart allows you to record the fluid you drink and the urine you pass over 3 days (not necessarily consecutive) in the week prior to your clinic appointment.
Interstitial Cystitis/ Painful Bladder Syndrome
Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a condition that results in recurring discomfort or pain in the bladder and the surrounding pelvic region. The symptoms vary from case to case and even in the same individual.
Inflatable Penile Prosthesis
Erectile dysfunction (or impotence) is the inability to achieve an erection sufficient for sexual activity. If you experience this, you should be aware that millions of men are in the same situation. One in four men over the age of sixty experience some degree of erectile dysfunction.
Intermittent Self Catheterization (ISC)
Catheterization involved passing a small tube, called a catheter, up into the bladder to empty it. Temporary catheterization is
commonly required following surgery due to pain, swelling, or
mobility problems.
Male Continence Patient Guide
Incontinence is defined as any involuntary leakage of urine. Male urinary incontinence is usually caused by a damaged sphincter or an improperly functioning bladder.
Male Incontinence Treatment options Brochure
Nearly 1 in 10 American men have urinary incontinence with rates rising in men over 60 years old. Incontinence, also known as bladder leakage, can stop you from living the active life you once lived and make you feel alone and isolated. For many men, leaking urine leads to feelings of embarrassment and depression.
Mid-urethral sling (MUS) procedures for stress incontinence
Mid-urethral sling procedures are operations designed to help women with stress incontinence. Stress incontinence is the leakage of urine with every day activities such as coughing, sneezing or exercise.
Mid-urethral sling (MUS) procedures for stress incontinence
Mid-urethral sling procedures are operations designed to help women with stress incontinence. Stress incontinence is the leakage of urine with every day activities such as coughing, sneezing or exercise.
Overactive Bladder.
“Overactive Bladder” is a very common problem that often causes distressing and inconvenient symptoms. It can cause you to rush to the toilet many times during the day and night, and can sometimes also cause you to leak some urine before you reach the toilet.
Posterior Vaginal Wall & Perineal Body Repair
About 1 in 10 women require surgery for vaginal prolapse. A prolapse of the back (posterior) wall of the vagina is usually due to a weakness in the strong tissue layer (fascia) that divides the vagina from the lower part of the bowel (rectum).
Sacral Neuromodulation
Sacral neuromodulation is a procedure used to treat men and women with chronic urinary retention, as well as symptoms of overactive bladder (a frequent and urgent need to pass urine, with associated leakage of urine), who have not responded to medication or physiotherapy.
Sacrocolpopexy
Sacrocolpopexy is a procedure to correct prolapse of the
vaginal vault (top of the vagina) in women who have had a previous hysterectomy. The operation is designed to restore the vagina to its normal position and function.
Sacrospinous Fixation/Ileococcygeus Suspension
A sacrospinous fixation is an operation designed to restore
support to the uterus or vaginal vault (in a woman who has had a hysterectomy).
Stress Urinary Incontinence
Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) is the involuntary leakage of urine during activities such as coughing, sneezing, lifting, laughing or exercising. SUI affects at least 10-20% of women, many of whom do not realize that there are simple, effective treatment options available.
Suprapubic catheter
The suprapubic catheter procedure involves putting a catheter into your bladder through your lower abdomen (tummy), usually through a small puncture in the skin. We often put a telescope into your bladder, along your urethra, to be sure that the catheter is in the right position.
Transurethral Prostatectomy (TURP) For Benign Disease
TURP involves telescopic removal of the obstructing, central part of the prostate with diathermy (electric current), creating a wide channel to allow urine to flow more easily.
Ureteral Stent
Ureteroscopy is a procedure that uses a scope to view the kidneys and ureters. It is most often performed to remove stones in the kidney and ureter. The ureters are tubes that drain urine from each kidney into the bladder.
Urethral bulking for stress urinary incontinence
A bulking agent is a material that is injected around the
urethra; this narrows the urethra so leakage is less likely
to occur. Common bulking agents include collagen (a type of
protein found in all our tissues) and water based gels containing
various different agents.
Urodynamics
Urodynamics is the name given to a number of tests designed
to show how your bladder functions. The main test is called cystometry, which measures your bladder’s ability to store and
pass urine.
Vaginal Repair with Mesh
The aim of a mesh implant is to reinforce natural tissue which has failed to support the pelvic organs, restoring support to the bladder, uterus or bowel and so preventing further bulging of these organs towards the vagina.
